We were trying to move into our new house and hired J&J (Josh & Jesus) Professional painting company to reprint our entire house as well as redo the ceilings. We paid them $3,500. Their add says they use Sherman Williams paint and he assured us because of this high quality paint he would only need to use one coat of paint even though the old paint colors where browns and orange and I wanted him to repaint in light medium grey and whites. He did not use Sherman Williams paint but a much cheaper brand. We were not living at the house or even in Orlando at the time, but had intended to move in after the painting was finished. When the painting was almost done very early on Friday morning my husband came to inspect their work. He pointed out several things that he would like to be corrected, which they had said they weren’t done yet. He also assumed several other things would just naturally be completed (like patching all the holes in the walls left by the previous owners!) We came back at the end of the day to inspect their work and pay them the final amount due. I have a serious lung issues and did not go and inspect their work as I probably should have since I was trying to avoid the paint fumes and dust. They were wanting to leave and get paid, so we did a quick walk through, but not as thorough as we should have in hind sight. Later that day and following day, my husband and I came and inspected the house and found several issues that we would like to have addressed. By that night I had already contacted Josh several times with the problems that I had started to notice. (The ceiling fan that they had taken down in my bed room and then put back up no longer worked, the kitchen ceiling they had re textured had developed and very large crack, all the holes in the walls.) Josh agreed to set up a time to come back to address some of the issues. (He also explained he had assumed that I would want to rehang all the old owners’ pictures and closet shelfs etc.
If you are looking to hire a painting company for a residential or professional job, I would strongly advise you not to hire J & J Painting. I will tell of my experience with them below, add just some of the pictures that I have taken of the problems with their quality of work, and you are welcome to contact me with any questions. They only used one coat of paint throughout the house; so on many walls and in many rooms there are places you can clearly see the old color bleeding through. The fact that they had only used one coat of paint drastically affected the color choices I had made when I had picked out the colors. it was impossible not to notice the huge paint drips and runs. They also decided to not paint the tops of the walls the new colors. In fact they dripped and left paint puddles everywhere without cleaning them up. All over my tile floor you could see the roller marks for about 1.5-2 inches out from the wall. I also had to take a razor blade to all the windows. Because they were not changing to a new color in my closets and bathrooms they simply decided they did not need to edge with the new color. This fact left a HUGE uneven color change for about 4 inches around EVERY bathroom. They simply painted over a couple of stickers I walked along and found the stickers and pulled them off They painted a great deal of my kitchen cabinets. They missed an entire wall next to the dishwasher. They also just painted a rough circle around my bathroom. The paint also never seemed to dry so with even the slightest bump or rub the paint would start to peel off in strips. I had the doors and trims painted. However if we leave one of the doors closed for too long now two weeks later the paint from the edge of the door will stick to the inside edge of the frame. Then when you open the door all the paint peels off. The same thing happens
Problems from their work became more noticeable the more time I spent in the house.
